CHIERI, Italy -- Piovano-Leutenda and Radaelli have closed their mills after reports of poor management and strategy. According to industry reports, Piovano closed its mill operations in early July and receivers will liquidate Radaelli. Leandro Piovano left the company nearly five years ago and his cousin, Piovano has since been heading up the operation.
NEW YORK, New York -- The Home Textile Sourcing Expo is opening its arms to 11 Egyptian companies who will be exhibiting as representatives of the Egyptian Home Textile Council. The expo is scheduled to take place at the Javits Center from July 19 - 21 in conjuction with Texworld USA, the largest apparel fabrics show in North America.
GMUND, Austria -- Baumann Dekor, a division of the family-run Bruder Baumann textile business, declared bankruptcy on June 28 and hopes to reemerge without debt, according to Christine Seidl, who became managing director of the company in January.
"Although we have a very good order situation, the banks were not prepared to take over the costs of a comprehensive restructuring," said Seidl. "Efforts are now being made to find an investor to re-start the company."
HAMM, Germany -- Sabanci Holding has sold its shares of its polyester subsidiary, Advansa BV but will continue with its current operations in Europe including the polyester staple fibre production plant in Germany. The investor group that made the purchase includes a European leader in recycling and senior management of Advansa in Europe who will now become shareholders.

The fire was contained because of the hard work and responsiveness of 27 fire companies, although the shipping and receiving area was destroyed along with some stock and a small weaving room with 12 looms — a small percentage of the company’s 90 looms.
